BROTHER TN2150X BLOG COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGE WITH HUGE 4,500 PAGE YIELD
What makes the Brother TN2150X compatible laser cartridge stand out from the TN2130 and TN2150 compatible printer cartridges? In a word - 'Yield'. 4,500 pages of it (@5% coverage as per ISO9001 Yield Specifications).
Brother has produced a range of printers including the DCP 7040, HL 2140, HL 2142, HL 2150N, HL 2170W, MFC 7340, MFC 7440, MFC 7840W, which use the above different sizes of cartridges.
So why have the different sizes?
Well, to start with, when you purchase any of the above Brother printers, they come with a TN2130 printer cartridge. This is in fact a TN2150 cartridge, but with an approximate lower yield of 1,500 pages @5% coverage. The reason that the TN2130 has only 57% capacity of the TN2150 (2,600 pages @5% coverage) is two fold.
Firstly, the lower capacity minimizes the chance of leakage during transportation. Secondly, as it is supplied with the printer, it is included in the price of the printer, so is a freeby in a sense. Naturally enough, Brother would like to see you going out and buying a replacement cartridge as soon as possible, and even better if it is a TN2130 because of the low level of toner in it.
The next size of cartridge, the TN 2150, has a 'standard' yield of 2,600 pages @5% coverage. This is the maximum size for the genuine cartridge.
But for compatibles, which by copyright, have to be 25% or more different in shape and size, the difference is in the size of the tank that holds the toner. In the case of the TN2150X, that is a massive 4,500 pages @5% coverage.
You might think then, that the compatible TN2150X @ 4,500 pages would be considerably more expensive than the genuine TN2150 standard at 2,600 pages. Not at all. The genuine TN2150 has an average internet price of approx. AUD$75 to $85, whereas the compatible TN2150X sells for $35.90.
Now that's a bargain if ever you'll find one.
